What to expect
Grid mode assumes equal quadrants and crop mode uses a centered frame. Results are predictable and local, but the tool does not detect borders, faces, focal points, watermarks, or irregular collage layouts automatically.
How 2×2 grid splitting works
A standard 2×2 generation grid has two columns and two rows of equal or nearly equal size. The browser reads the image dimensions and calculates four rectangles. When a width or height is odd, the extra pixel is assigned to the right column or bottom row so every source pixel belongs to one result and no edge is silently discarded.
Each rectangle is drawn to a separate Canvas and exported in a browser-supported format. This geometric approach is fast and reliable when the grid has no outer frame or thick gutters. If a generator adds spacing, labels, or unequal panels, crop the source first or use an editor with manual guides for precise boundaries.
Understanding aspect-ratio cropping
An aspect ratio describes the relationship between width and height, not a fixed resolution. A square 1:1 crop works for many profile and feed placements, 4:5 provides a taller portrait frame, 16:9 creates a wide landscape frame, and 9:16 targets vertical stories or short-form video covers. The exported pixel dimensions depend on the size and orientation of your source.
Crop mode preserves the largest centered rectangle that fits the selected ratio. It never stretches the image. Content near the long edges may be removed, so inspect the composition before publishing. If the subject is off-center, use a full editor that lets you reposition the crop rather than relying on an automatic centered frame.
Image quality, formats, and metadata
PNG export is lossless for pixel values but can create larger files, especially for photographic images. JPEG and WebP are re-encoded by the browser and may show a slight quality or file-size change. Re-encoding does not improve a low-resolution source, and splitting a grid produces smaller pixel dimensions for each quadrant even when the export quality is high.
Canvas exports commonly omit camera EXIF information, location metadata, and some embedded color-profile details. That may be useful for privacy but can affect workflows that depend on metadata or precise print color. Keep the original file as your archive and use dedicated color-managed software for professional print preparation.
Privacy and a reliable publishing workflow
The selected image is read with browser file APIs and rendered locally. RunAIToolkit does not upload it to a processing API or store it in a cloud library. Generated downloads remain under your browser's normal download controls. For sensitive work, you should still consider device security, browser extensions, shared computers, and the folder where downloads are saved.
Before posting, open at least one exported file and confirm its dimensions, framing, text legibility, and format.
